Home ImprovementHow to Deal with Some of the Most Loathed Household Chores
Here are some of the household tasks that are always being done last (or sometimes barely even done at all). Read on to learn some tips on fighting those commonly detested cleaning chores. Toaster This is one of the important chores that are left undone. Leaving a dirty toaster not only gives you an untidy appliance, but the crumbs can also smoke and stink up your kitchen. How to clean this small yet valuable appliance? Unplug and remove the crumb tray. Dump out the crumbs, then clean the tray using dish soap and wipe dry with a cloth. Hold the toaster upside down over the trash can and softly tap out remaining crumbs. It is essential for this task to be done every other month. Shower Doors and Tiles It is very crucial to clean them in order to prevent growth of mold and mildew into the grout, which, if left longer, can be harder to remove (think renovation of bathroom). A buildup of soap scum can also discolor ceramic and stone tiles. To clean: Spray the walls using an all-purpose cleaner then scrub them with brush having stiff bristles. For the shower doors, use glass cleaner or undiluted white vinegar that has been heated to boiling. Use a microfiber cloth or a non scratch scrubbing sponge. To remove shower door tracks, pour a little vinegar into it then leave for a few minutes. Rub it with the scrub brush and then towel-dry. No need to rinse. Do this every other week for light cleaning and once a month for the shower-door tracks. Spray the can inside and out using a cleaner designed for pet messes as these contain enzymes that kill bacteria and counteract bad odors. Wearing rubber gloves, scrub the can with a toilet brush. Rinse afterwards with the hose and then pat dry or let it dry in the sun for better cleaning results as the heat from the sun helps eliminate mold. This should be done every other month or whenever the trash can smells bad. You can talk about...
