Avoid having a smelly home with these simple home remedies.

Freezer

Odor on your ice seems to be getting worst as the other items inside your freezer seem to be smelling bad. What to do? Clean the freezer by wiping it with the use of a cotton pad moistened with pure vanilla extract. A wipe-down with a mixture of half white vinegar and half water can remove odor from your refrigerator shelves.

Food Storage Containers

Storage stench is one of the most common food odors. Saving leftovers for dinner is righteous but throwing out containers because you can't eliminate the smell of onions and garlic isn't. So how do you get rid of the smell? Immerse plastic containers in warm water with baking soda overnight. Wash glass jar containers in a mixture of powdered mustard and warm water.

Kitchen Sink

Stinky sinks are a big no-no for a room where food is cooked and served. Your garbage disposal is beneficial for eliminating the remains of dinner but their odors are much more stubborn. What’s the solution? Be kind to your garbage disposal by giving it something nicer to grind on. Run hot water and drop orange peels down the hatch. Other citrus fruits such as lemon, lime, and grapefruit rinds can also be a big help.

Carpet

Carpets can accumulate repulsive odors ranging from smelly foot odors to pet odors. End this stinky crisis by barricading off the reeking zone and sprinkling few baking sodas. Vacuum it up after a few hours.

Car

Car fumes are your enemies. Your car has been there for you through thick and thin and wouldn’t want to be reminded of how long it has been each time you are behind the wheel. The solution: Drop a potpourri wax tart into a cup holder. The tarts can be easily found in grocery stores as they are commonly used in fragrance burners.

Clothes

Are musty clothes keeping you from sporting a vintage look? Your classic woolens are back in style, but they emit old and sour odors from their stint in fashion purgatory. Fret not, just spray garments with a little amount of vodka (be sure to spot-test first as you wouldn’t want a polka-dotted vintage wardrobe). Straight vodka kills bacteria without leaving a scent.
